Focus of her work includes assisting individuals through difficult life changes, behavioral disturbances, depression, anxiety and trauma. Specialities include loss and grief, counseling children in foster care or residential placements, adjustment reactions, physical and sexual abuse recovery, ADD/ADHD, and assistance with development of parenting skills. Specialties also include counseling for geriatric populations coping with depression, anxiety and onset of dementia.
Experience includes:
- acting as an expressive therapist for children, adolescents, adults and geriatric populations in acute and residential hospitalization programs at a local psychiatric hospital.
- counselor for children in residential group home settings moving into foster care
- supervisor for Expressive Therapies graduate students
- currently serving on the board for KYATA (Kentucky Art Therapy Association)
- conducting in-services to educate families and service teams about management of cognitive and emotional changes in elderly family members experiencing effects of dementia
